We partner with non-selective state schools across England, and provide our fully-funded programme to up to four students from each school. Find out more about our programme, our eligibility criteria and how to register your interest.
Universify participants start our year-long programme starting with a week-long university residential at the end of Year 10. This is followed by monthly 1:1 online coaching and a final Year 11 for a revision weekend to prepare for their GCSEs.
Experiencing University Life
Our Year 10 and Year 11 residentials are deigned to provide students with a taste of what living and studying at university is like and build familiarity with Higher Education.
Like an undergraduate student, participants experience seminar-style classes delivered by subject experts, learn about university life from current undergraduates, and build independence exploring the university city for themselves.
Setting Goals
Each participant is paired with a trained Universify coach, who provides support in setting goals and develop techniques to help students achieve their ambitions. Coaching sessions are offered monthly online, and students can catch up with their coaches face-to-face on the residentials.
Raising GCSE Attainment
During March or April of Year 11 participants will return to their host university to attend a GCSE revision weekend. Here they will have a chance to receive intensive revision classes in either Maths, English or Sciences to help prepare them for their upcoming GCSEs so they can achieve the best possible grades.
Participants will also have the chance to catch up with their coach face-to-face again, checking in with the goals they have been working towards in the monthly sessions, and outlining a plan for their GCSEs. After the Year 11 revision weekend their coach will stay in touch right up until the end of the GCSEs, working together to achieve the grades set as a goal by the participant.
Creating a plan for the future
The Universify programme is only the beginning of an exciting journey. We support students by equipping them with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their futures options and signposting follow-on support after Universify.
We partner with non-selective state schools and offer each school up to four places on our programme.
We are looking for students who are currently in Year 10 and have the potential to do well in their GCSEs (six or more B grades / 6s). If your schools have students with this potential — but maybe not yet the self-belief or desire to apply for university one day — we’re probably looking for your school.
To take part in the programme we require schools to register via a lead teacher, who will act as our point of contact throughout the programme. In the first instance we work with our university partner’s target areas but aim to partner with as many schools as we can. As spaces are limited we will add schools to a waiting list if necessary.
If your school wants to participate please write us an email and we will be pleased to come back to you.
Send us your details. We’ll sign you up to our newsletter and keep you up to date with the latest Universify news.
